Forgot to mention...while walking the dogs this morning, I mentally debated whether to let both off lead at the same time, since they had pretty good about returning. Well....2.5 hours later and some back and forth driving to different watersheds, I'm at the Ketchum library, killing time before I go out and either find them or they're R.K. on the highway....huskies!!!!

By the way, I was planning to leave for a trip to visit siblings in California, but decided to postpone travel when I found that you were going to be kicking shit in my home stomping grounds on the 9th! I finally get to meet THE John Fayhee...or a reasonable facsimile thereof... Will my expectations be too great or will I have somehow failed to ascend to the peak of them? Only 160 hours or so separates me from that cognition. I guess it's better than looking at the great flat wastelands of central Nevada and listening to some inane tune on the radio (since I don't have satellite or Ipods or whatever). Just the sounds of my huskies asking for me to stop at the next dry washed out rest stop for a pee in the sage or scrub grass and some great sniffing of pee-ers past......

Dear John, Geez, that sounds like all of the letters that my basic training army buddies were receiving, back in the day. I guess I was fortunate (or not) to not have some sweet thang back homing writing to me..to inform me that she had found another. I didn't have to go through the heart-rending bullshit that they had to, as if that made it any better. Maybe I would have traded places with them. After all, better to loved than not to have loved, or some other b.s.

Reading about Little Dog (I haven't read the next installment) does credo to your being a true dog lover, which to some people may sound similar to commie-lover or n-lover, etc. I myself judge folks by how they either eagerly approach my huskies or shy back away in their dark clothing, afraid to get white hair all over their "look". I have little patience in developing a relationship with such people. I live in dog fur and it's an innate part of me. Maybe because I couldn't have a dog behind barbed wire as a small child.....
